If you’ve been around the internet, you’ve likely heard about FlightReacts. Nicknamed “Flight,” he’s established a persona around controversy. Interestingly enough, Flight has found success in the areas that most streamers try to ignore. Across his multitude of social platforms, Flight amasses millions of followers.

Flight’s uniqueness stems in part from the amount of hate that he gets. In specificity, he streams NBA 2K in-game chat, a mode in which players from opposing teams can chat. This leaves him vulnerable to a direct confrontation with “haters,” which differs from the typical approach to negativity.

In general, controversial streamers tend to avoid their haters, making every effort to dodge them. Flight, however, breaks the norm. His game chat confrontations are often quite messy, but extremely entertaining to watch.  As opposed to normal stream gameplay, his broadcasts add an extra interest element, allowing him to pull these views. On average, Flight’s streams receive over 15,000 live viewers, putting him near the top of the engagement rates.

Alongside his frequent encounters with hate, Flight thrives on being generally controversial. His outlandish opinions earn him the most views, propelling him into the spotlight. Regardless of whether users agree with him or not, his numbers continue to climb as he consistently presents radical viewpoints on pop culture, sports, and digital media. Most prominently, he creates strong opinions on his basketball talent. As a self-proclaimed star athlete, he’s stated that he could beat multiple NBA players in a 1v1. Not only that, but he also notes that some players steal “his moves,” noting “that’s my type of shot,” among other claims.

Realistically, Flight is probably playing a character. If I were to write out a list of his most obscene comments, it wouldn’t fit the article template. More likely, he’s an expert businessman. Regardless of his videos’ outlook, he’s generating millions of views daily, creating massive revenue.

Most of his subscribers fail to recognize his real talent, which stems beyond his comedic commentary. Asides from his primary position as an entertainer, his knowledge of a viral strategy are incredibly developed. By yelling louder than everyone else, he’s built up an incredibly loyal audience and haters alike.
