Out with the old Captain America and in with the new. After finally accepting his destiny as the rightful Captain America in the season finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sam Wilson is now the carrier of the iconic stars-and-stripes shield. Marvel has replaced Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) with Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) on all Captain America social media pages to make things official.

Last week, Marvel Studios released a poster with Sam Wilson in his new red, white, and blue suit. Now, the exciting depiction has replaced previous images of Steve Rogers on the official Marvel Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram profiles for Captain America. The pages were updated to include the character’s legendary “On your left” line as well.

With these profile changes come some mysterious inkling. In the Instagram changeover, there was a story post that hinted there might be a Steve Rogers return in the future of the Marvel Universe. Many fans have begun to speculate that he’ll make an appearance; however, it may not be what they’re expecting. According to ScreenRant, there have been several reports that Chris Evans will return in an unrelated project. People have taken varying interpretations upon this, with many theories stemming from a multiverse.

As of now, the only confirmed news of Marvel’s future is the upcoming Captain America 4, a solo film currently in development by the writers behind the Disney+ show. With The Falcon and the Winter Soldier now done airing new episodes, Mackie will soon get ready to reprise Wilson’s role, and he’s thankful for the opportunity.

“I called my sister and talked to her for a while about it,” he said in an interview with Vogue.

“There were so many things I wanted in my career growing up as a young actor. I didn’t go to Hollywood and say, ‘Make me a star.’ I didn’t do some of these other things to get recognition; I worked for 21 years to get to where I am. [So] to have that moment of realizing that all of your hard work has paid off, it’s very humbling.”

While casting and details on Captain America 4 have not been revealed, the plot will likely continue the life of Sam as he embraces his prominent role as Captain America in the MCU.
