2HYPE Series 1 Cards

Recently, we’ve all seen the impacts of sports cards on the market. We’ve written about it several times, so I’ll skip past that part for the sake of time.

When you think of sports cards, what kind of people do you think of? Spoiler alert, there’s a right answer. On nearly all of them, you find an athlete. From Tiger Woods to LeBron James, sports cards always show an athlete in some way. Thus, you can imagine my surprise when a new kind of sports card was released, one that challenged the genre: YouTuber cards.

Made by the popular YouTube group “2HYPE,” a new twist on cards was put onto the market. Instead of athletes or something like Pokemon, they feature pictures and inserts of the group’s content creators, namely Jesser, Jiedel, Kris London, Moochie, Cashnasty ZackTTG.

At a reasonable price of $20, I had to pick up a blaster from Trucreator, the company selling them. I’ve watched the 2HYPE YouTubers for years, so I felt pretty excited. When I went to select my purchase, I was greeted with the following:

TruCreator presents the 2HYPE Series 1 Box featuring six members of the online collective. Each box contains six-packs of 7 cards for a total of 42 cards with a chance to pull autograph or relic cards.”

Pretty cool, right? After waiting for a while, I finally received my order in the mail. All I can say is…wow. These cards are REALLY cool. If I’m not mistaken, Trucreator was founded by 2HYPE themselves, so them being able to push out such a cool product at an affordable price is extremely impressive.

The card designs are concrete, the inserts are incredibly cool, they produced a substantial number of variations considering the size of their team, and opening them was an enjoyable experience. On top of that, the packaging was pristine. Seriously, the box looked better than most Panini products. After opening, I was pretty content with my pulls, notably an autograph from 2HYPE’s Jiedel.

If YouTubers can do this consistently, they might have struck gold. It’s a great way to connect with your favorite creators and have fun doing so. After all, playing cards aren’t as trivial as everyone thinks.
